23rd Annual Hospice Festival of Trees
Friday, November 26th -
Monday, November 29th
Greater Waldorf Jaycees Center

The annual Festival of Trees is held each year over the Thanksgiving weekend, beginning Friday and ending Monday in order to benefit the Hospice of Charles County and sponsored by the Friends of Hospice and the Greater Waldorf Jaycees along with many others who give time and donations. The festival includes a Family Memorial Service and the lighting of the Dove tree that honors men and women that hospice has served over the past year.

Each year over 70 decorated trees and wreaths are put on display. Featured events include: holiday gift shops, spectacular entertainment, lunch with Santa, Senior’s luncheon, black-tie gala, comedy clubs, and many more.

Cracker Barrel coming to Waldorf & California


Construction is underway for a Cracker Barrel located off of the northbound lane of Crain Highway in Waldorf, next to Carrabba's Italian Grill. A spring 2011 opening is anticipated

Another Cracker Barrel restaurant is proposed in California's Park Place development at Route 235 and Shady Mile Drive.

Commissioners Approve New Development Plan for Waldorf, MD


On April 13, 2010 the Charles County Commissioners unanimously voted to adopt the Waldorf Urban Design Study legislative package. This plan will change development in the downtown Waldorf area from strip commercial development to mixed-use. The goal is to create a walkable community that will be more conducive to mass transit in the future. The Waldorf areas that will be affected begin north of Acton Lane and continues south of Leonardtown Road. It will also cover the areas between Crain Highway (rt. 301) and the railroad tracks.

Panera Bread Breaks Ground in La Plata


Construction of the new Panera Bread has begun in La Plata, Maryland. It is located in front of the Petco store on Shining Willow Way and is a welcome addition to the growing number of dining options in the area. According to representatives at the company, it is slated to open in July of 2010.
